We’re hardly the first ones to address the issue of the quality of the comics that appear in your local newspaper. Most of the famous webcomics out there have addressed it at one time or another and really it’s pretty much a settled game. It sure would be nice to get a truckload of money to produce “Blondie” or “Hi and Lois” for a few decades, but I sincerely doubt that their writers are still expressing themselves in any way through their work. They might as well be making wallpaper.
Immediately after we published this one, I regretted that the hydrofoil wasn’t being weighed down by something more exotic and sinister than money. This is a mainstream paper afterall! Why not precious blood sapphires or Incan statuettes made of gold?
